Wednesday's Passage: 1 John 2:1-6
Hey, hey, thanks for posting! Hope the conversation continues to grow, and we all are encouraged as we share God's truth with one another. Remember, pray that God would speak to you, read the passage, take some time to understand John and listen to God, and finally share what you're learning.

Forgiveness is not an excuse to sin. John's goal is that "you will not sin," but he wants to remind us of the forgiveness we have in Christ and the importance of honesty and repentance. He reminds us to really strive to obey God; "Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did." Let's really follow Jesus with all we've got, and then confess and trust him with the rest.
ReplyDeleteMan this is really awesome in the fact that when it comes to being God lovers John pretty much lays down a condensed version of what that looks like for example 1 John 2:4-5. You love God if you love his commands and obey them. A major WOW factor of this passage is John says if we live say we live in God we should live as Jesus did. Man thats huge and major footsteps to try to follow. I completely agree with Stroo's whole blog especially his last sentence. In fact thats my prayer for this week. AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI really like that this passage talks about the fact that Jesus came to be the atonement not only for us, but for all, He came to remove the sins of the whole world, and the whole world can gain access to God thru Him, and Him only.
ReplyDeleteThis passage gives us a huge challenge, walk as He walked. It is super important to acknowledge our seeking toward this goal, but to also understand that we are forgiven when we fall short of this.
