"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mark 12:32-33
This is an intense kind of love. I am overwhelmed by how much our God cares about us. This passage tells us that we should love everyone else to the point of sacrificing all we have for them, just as Jesus did for us. That is oftentimes difficult. Overall a very encouraging passage to challenge ourselves with.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever looked at the similarities between this verse and John 3:16 from the gospel of John? Just curious. "Let us love in truth and action" If we truly love, our actions will demonstrate that love to those who hold our affection. May it be God and everyone that he puts in our path that receive our love.
ReplyDeleteGod loves us SO much... It's crazy. It's hard to imagine that much love.. We must love everyone else as God loves us. Verse 18: "let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." We must SHOW our love, not just say that we do. The only way to prove our love is to show it through God and give to others, even though that can sometimes be hard.
ReplyDeleteI really like these verses because they basically tell us that if we love our brothers & sisters in Christ, then we need to show it. We can't go around saying "I love all of you because we are together in Christ" & not mean the words we say. We need to be here for our Christian family & pray for them! When we live in the truth & do what we say God will be evidently noticable in our lives.
