"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mark 12:32-33
The first part of this passage presents a great promise to us, when He (Jesus) appears we will be made like Him, and when we hope in Him we therefore purify ourselves just as He is pure. This is a great comfort. Even when we fail, we are still purified and sustained by our Hope in Him in His grace.
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting and encouraging to know that one day "we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." I can't even begin to imagine how amazing this time will be. We are so blessed to have our Father's love!
ReplyDeleteI was caught by the last part of verse 1. "The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him." When we are striving to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us into living a Christ-like life, there are going to be those who no longer want to associate with us, some of them unfortunately even in the church. Even though we are not "of this world" God has left us in this world to be an example to them. Since they are the reason we are here, we must find ways to build relationships with them so that Christ can use us as reflectors of Himself.
ReplyDeleteChrist "appeared so that he might take away our sins." The more we love him, the more we live in him, the less sin enters our lives. Let us let Christ have us. Beg him to free us from our sins. Pray for release from temptation. Then we go and carry his love and forgiveness to the world, so that they may live in him and not go on sinning.
