Tuesday's Passage: 1 John 3: 7-10
I realized a few days ago that I'm always trying to figure out scripture. I'm always asking questions about historical context, literary context, what do the words mean and why were they said this way. Too often I leave scripture when I feel like I've fiqured it out, instead of taking what I've figured out and letting God change me. Let the Spirit of God reveal truth to you, and then be sure to let it talk to you about you. Let's share together!

How awesome is the end of verse 8?! "The reason the Son of God came was to destroy the works of the devil." We should so rejoice in this. Jesus came and thru His resurrection He is victorious over the devil. Evil can not win, He has already won!!
ReplyDeleteSo, who are we working with? Those who do right are children of God and those who are sinful are of the devil. And like Josh said the devil's work is destroyed already! Christ came to put an end sin and evil. We've got to take long looks at how we spend our time in who we are serving. We may find ourselves chasing after that which Christ came to destroy!
ReplyDeleteEven though we are Christians & Jesus has already distroyed the works of the devil but we all (myself included) find ourselves sinning. sometimes committing the same sin over & over again but I think the difference is that with Christians we have the Holy Spirit in us that makes us notice that "practicing sin" is wrong. THe Holy Spirit within us brings us to surreneder, ask for forgivness, & repent.
ReplyDeleteGod's seed. I like that.
ReplyDeleteI also thought of Forest Gump when he said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Did anyone else think of that. It said that he who does what is just and righteous is just and righteous. So stupid is as stupid does. and Righteous is as righteous does.
Bring on the good deeds. Not because they might save me but because they will show the seed of my Father who is in me.
"Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray". I think a lot of times people find friends they like to hang out with, but the friend is not a christian. I find it extremely hard to hang out with someone who is not a God lover and still be as close to God as I am when I have no one pulling me down. I think people should find friends that will lift them up and bring them more to God. And they should stay with them! Having friends who will pull us away from God, even if they are meaning to or not, is just tearing the realtionship we have with God apart.
