Wednesday's Passage: Colossians 2:20-3:4

I hope the end of the semester is going well for everyone. May God be with you, and may you take time to be with God. Pray that God would speak, read the passage, think about what Paul is saying, listen to God, and finally share what you're learning.

  1. I want to be the kind of guy they don't make rules for.

Weird statement right! Here's what I mean. "Do not kill" is a rule because some people murder. "Do not drink alcohol" is a rule because people don't practice moderation, they get wasted, and ruin their lives and their families. I want to live so well that when people look at my life they think, "He doesn't need any rules; he doesn't do anything wrong." And that's what Paul is calling the Church to. He says, "why do you keep following the rules of the world...they provide no help in conquering a person's evil desires." He challenges us to set our mind on Christ, to live completely for him, and then we'll be living lives of faith, hope, and love, and we won't need the rules to tell us how to live.

So, let's all be the kind of guys they don't make rules for.
