"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mark 12:32-33
I want to be the kind of guy they don't make rules for.
ReplyDeleteWeird statement right! Here's what I mean. "Do not kill" is a rule because some people murder. "Do not drink alcohol" is a rule because people don't practice moderation, they get wasted, and ruin their lives and their families. I want to live so well that when people look at my life they think, "He doesn't need any rules; he doesn't do anything wrong." And that's what Paul is calling the Church to. He says, "why do you keep following the rules of the world...they provide no help in conquering a person's evil desires." He challenges us to set our mind on Christ, to live completely for him, and then we'll be living lives of faith, hope, and love, and we won't need the rules to tell us how to live.
So, let's all be the kind of guys they don't make rules for.
